On Sunday, 26 June 2011 we will conclude our Field Day operation. At the conclusion of the Field Day operation and following a one hour break we will start and complete the take-down phase.
Phase 1
Midnight (0400Z) – Field Day operations continue
• Continue making contacts
• Phone stations reduced to 4 during the night.
• 20m
• 40m
• 80m
• 160m (We will probably close this station at some point until 9:00am)
• Reactivate the 10m, 15m, 6m/2m phone stations
• Conduct a training activity (11:00am – Subject: PSK-31)
2:00pm – Field Day operations cease. All radio stations and laptops will be shut down.
Phase 2
2:00pm – Mandatory rest period.
Phase 3
3:00pm – The take-down phase will start. (Note: Drink lots of fluids and take breaks as necessary)
• Owners of radio equipment (transceivers, power supplies, microphones, headsets, keys, keyers, power cables, support cables, etc.) and laptops will remove their equipment from the shelters.
• Concurrent with the above, antennas will be taken down and rolled-up; coax will be disconnected from antennas and radios and rolled up.
• Coax and antennas will be placed at a designated location for collection
• The masts will be lowered; antenna and mast support systems will be removed and carefully rolled up and placed at a designated location for collection.
• Antenna masts will be disassembled and returned to storage
• Guy stakes will be retrieved and placed at a designated location for collection.
• Lights and LAN cables will be removed and carefully rolled up and placed at a designated location for collection
• Tables and chairs will be removed from the shelters placed in a designated location for collection or returned to storage as appropriate.
• The CW shelter will be taken down and packed.
• The generator supporting the CW shelter will be shut down; power cords rolled up and placed in a designated location for collection as will the fans in that shelter.
• The generator will be allowed to cool down and then returned to storage.
• The Phone shelters, fans, power cords and generator will be taken down in a manner similar to the process used for the CW shelter.
• The signs posted along the local streets will be retrieved and returned to storage.
• Any additional equipment will be removed and placed in a designated location for collection or returned to storage as appropriate.
• Trash bags will be collected and placed in the dumpster.
• A final walk-through of the Field Day site will be conducted to ensure nothing has been overlooked.
Estimated time required for this task: 2-3 hours.
